LA Metro Union Station

Description:

PENCO Engineering is providing Right of Way Engineering and Civil Engineering Support services for the improvements to LA Metro Union Station and rail improvements including expansion for the High Speed Rail Project through Downtown Los Angeles.

Our Surveying and Mapping Department provided both the field and office expertise to develop the base mapping required for Project support for the right of way engineering.

Base mapping required the assembly and resolution of nearly 150 years of record maps and deeds through some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

The effort entailed field surveying dozens of high traffic urban intersections to locate record monumentation and boundary control in order to resolve and mosaic hundred of historical and legal references underlying the Project. Additionally, our survey department provided site specific design topography to support the engineering design efforts required for this unique Project.

Multiple agency and stakeholder standards required an extraordinary degree of communication and coordination with all partners in order to meet schedules and produce globally acceptable deliverables. Project deliverables for right of way engineering included Base Mapping, Conceptual Exhibits, Right of Way Plats & Legal Descriptions, Digital Terrain Models and Record of Survey.

Our Engineering Department provided site analysis for the impact on William Mead Homes historical site by adding high speed rail. The analysis included on site study and preliminary engineering design recommendations for local street redesign, parking reconfigurations, utility relocations and site traffic flow analysis to be included in the Environmental report.
