Project Elements:

PENCO provided civil engineering design and survey services for a new high school, with a comprehensive curriculum and facilities for approximately 1,200 students. The project is located on the former site of the Granada Hills Community Hospital.

Most new high schools are 15- to 20-acres. On this eight-acre site, the small project footprint provided design and construction challenges. Among the challenges was ensuring that the facilities were entirely ADA compliant; addressing storm water runoff; and relocating existing on-site dry and wet utilities to fit new school site plan, with its unusually tight constraints.

Field locations and elevations of the existing site features were required to be extremely accurate due to the limited construction tolerances that would be required for a project of this type.

PENCO provided civil engineering design and survey services including ALTA and topographic survey, lot line adjustment, easements, off-site wet utility design, earthworks, demolition, precise grading, water and sewer, storm drain, erosion control, and street improvements.

An underground detention system was designed and installed to address storm water quality and flow issues.
