PROJECT ENGINEER: LAND DEVELOPMENT

Description:
Currently looking for a licensed Professional Engineer for land/site development design. This position will focus on supporting project work in local land development and infrastructure design.
Duties: Assist in public and private, sustainable projects; assist with grading, hydraulics, hydrology, water, sewer, storm drain and street design.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a degreed Civil Engineer with a current California PE
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in site development design with a consulting firm
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Must have excellent communication skills as well as time management and organizational skills
  • Able to work in a team environment

PROJECT ENGINEER: ROADWAY/HYDROLOGY/HYDRAULICS

Description: 

Facilities and Infrastructure Civil Engineer – Work on projects for institutional and public-works clients. Assist on project design of municipal/quasi-public facilities and utility/roadway infrastructure.

Duties: Assist with coordination and follow-up to ensure quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained, and client satisfaction, respect and confidence are assured. Use technical knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures.  Successful candidate will have current knowledge of sustainable design practices.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Must have a Professional Registration as a Civil Engineer in the state of California
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with Facilities, Infrastructure and Public Works design
  • Experience in design of sustainable stormwater management systems and green/complete streets strongly preferred

ASSOCIATE ENGINEER

Description: 

The Associate Engineers’ basic function is to design and prepare plans for Civil Engineering projects.  This is the entry level for professional work, success as defined here is to include, but not be limited to:  adhering to and following PENCO design standards, jurisdictional agency guidelines and meeting project schedules.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.  Assignments usually include one or more of the following: preparation of plans, preparation of quantity estimates, preparation of construction notes and specifications, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific narrow area of assignments.

General Characteristics:

This is the entry level for professional work. Performs assignments designed to develop professional works knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Basic computer-aided drafting skills
Related experience in the field of Civil Engineering design

Licensure/Registration Status:

Engineer-In-Training strongly desired
Valid California Class C driver’s license

  • Full-time, regular employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the month following 30 days after their date of hire.
  • Medical Benefits: PENCO contributes 99% of the premium cost of the United HealthCare HMO or PPO Plan rate.
  • Dental Benefits: PENCO Engineering, Inc. contributes 99% of the United HealthCare HMO Dental Plan for the employee’s premium.
  • Vision Benefits: PENCO contributes 99% of the United HealthCare Vision Plan for the employee’s premium.
  • 401k Plan/Profit Sharing Plan: Employees are eligible to participate in the company’s 401k and Profit Sharing Plan the first day of the month after 30 days following the hire date. PENCO’s 401k Plan gives each employee the opportunity to accumulate retirement funds while working at the company, and employees are encouraged to participate.  Company matching is based on PENCO’S profitability for the previous calendar year.
  • Life Insurance and ADD: After 30 days of employment, employee is automatically enrolled in Base Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance.
  • Paid Vacation: PENCO believes that it is to the employee’s advantage to enjoy the relaxation and revitalization of a vacation. In keeping with this philosophy, PENCO offers 80 hours (10 business days) of Paid Time Off per year for vacation purposes up to 5 years of service and 120 hrs. (15 business days) from 5 to 15 years of service.
  • Sick/Personal Leave: PENCO offers 24 hours (3 days) per year of Sick Leave for each employee.
  • Holiday Pay: PENCO offers 9 paid holidays per calendar year, including: New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
  • 24 Hour Fitness Membership is available to all full time employees and their dependents.  The employee’s membership cost is $6 per month; PENCO pays for all other fees associated with enrollment for employees.  Employees may enroll and pay for their dependents at PENCO’S corporate rate.
  • Employee of the Year: Each employee has the opportunity to be nominated by co-workers and management for Employee of the Year Award.
  • Corporate Social Events: The employees of PENCO truly share a “family at work” relationship and enjoy some events during the year.
